Growing beyond Earth

This page repeats what NASA has published about plant research. It does not say that any variety here will leave Earth.

NASA writes that crews have grown lettuces, Chinese cabbage, mustard greens, kale, tomatoes, radishes, and chile peppers on the International Space Station. One lettuce they name is Outredgeous red romaine. They also write about Veggie, a small chamber where people water plants by hand.

Small, fast, compact

Members can tag a variety in the vault as small, fast, and compact. The tag is a note from a grower. It is not a selection for a mission.

No varieties are tagged yet.

The vault is still a community of growers, not a storage building.
