Seed vault
This vault is a community network of growers. It is not a physical storage building yet. It uses the varieties people already share in the seed bank. No selling, no payments, and no fees.

How to store seed
Written steps. This is general info, not legal advice.
Dry it
Leave the seed on the plant until it is dry, or scoop it from ripe fruit. Spread it in a thin layer. It is dry when a seed snaps instead of bending. Do not use a hot oven.
Store it cool and dry
Put the dry seed in a paper packet. Write the plant, the variety, the year, and the state. Keep the packet cool and dry. A closed jar in a cool room is enough. This site does not store the seed for you.
Test germination
Count out 10 seeds. Lay them on a damp paper towel and keep the towel damp, not soggy. After several days, count how many sprouted. This is a home check, not a lab test.
Seed sharing must follow the state seed rules where you live. Some states limit mailing certain seeds across state lines. Never share treated, patented, or prohibited seed, invasive plants, or noxious weeds. Label each packet with the name, the year, and where it was grown. This is not legal advice.
